Ethiopia Plans Feasibility Study for 520 MW Geothermal Plant

A Washington-based project finance firm will conduct a feasibility study for the first phase of a planned 520-megawatt geothermal project in the Main Ethiopian Rift, according to the U.S. embassy. 
Delphos International Ltd. will assess the suitability of an initial 50 megawatts at the Tulu Moye Geothermal project, while TM Geothermal Operations Private Ltd. Co. of Ethiopia will coordinate the study, the embassy said in an emailed statement. The U.S. in June renewed its commitment to support the Horn of Africa nation’s energy sector in the period through 2023.
