Ethiopia’s ruling coalition party will meet next week to choose a new leader, Fana Broadcasting Corp. reported, citing Shiferaw Shigute, a senior party official.
The Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front is preparing to appoint a successor to Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who resigned last month after failing to end two years of sporadic anti-government protests. The state has suspended the constitution as it seeks to reassert its authority in the restive Oromia region.
