Russia and Ethiopia are in talks to establish a nuclear technology center in the Horn of Africa nation dedicated “primarily” to nuclear research, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Ethiopia already has a Russian-designed research reactor “which will serve as the basis of this nuclear center,” Lavrov told reporters in the capital, Addis Ababa. “The nuclear technology center primarily does research and it will help for instance with new opportunities in radiological medicine.”
Lavrov is on a week-long visit to Africa including Angola, Namibia and Mozambique.
